أفادت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة "اليونيسف" بأن عدد الأطفال الذين يعيشون في مناطق الصراع أو نزحوا بشكل قسري من منازلهم بسبب القتال، أصبح أكبر من أي وقت مضى، بحسب "روسيا اليوم".
وقالت المديرة التنفيذية للمنظمة، كاثرين راسل، في بيان "بكل المقاييس تقريبا، كان عام 2024 أحد أسوأ الأعوام على الإطلاق بالنسبة للأطفال في مناطق الصراع في تاريخ المنظمة، سواء من حيث عدد الأطفال المتضررين أو مستوى التأثير على حياتهم".
وأضافت المنظمة في تقرير صدر اليوم السبت، أن زهاء 473 مليون طفل يعيشون في مناطق الصراع، أي أكثر من واحد من كل ستة أطفال بمختلف أنحاء العالم.
وأشارت المنظمة إلى أن نسبة الأطفال، الذين يعيشون في مناطق الصراع تضاعفت من حوالي 10% في تسعينيات القرن الماضي إلى حوالي 19%، اليوم.
وذكرت المنظمة أن هؤلاء الأطفال يقتلون ويصابون ويضطرون إلى الانقطاع عن الدراسة ولا يحصلون على التطعيمات الحيوية أو يعانون من سوء تغذية حاد.
